Some weekends change you.
This past weekend was one of them.
Charlotte's Cove had the opportunity to be part of the biggest pop-up we've ever done, our first 3 day event at Love Shack Fancy Austin and while I was excited leading up to it, I couldn't have imagined how meaningful it would become.
Of course, seeing so many women discover Charlotte's Cove was incredible.
But what stayed with me wasn't how busy it was.
It was the conversations.
Women shared stories about favorite beaches, family vacations, honeymoon trips to Hawaii, quiet mornings along the California coast, and places that instantly made them smile. We laughed, swapped travel recommendations, talked about our favorite little beach towns, and reminisced about the places that have shaped us.
One conversation especially stayed with me.
I met someone from the Bay Area.
As someone who grew up on the California coast, born and raised in the SF Bay Area; hearing where she was from instantly felt like someone had handed me a little piece of home. We talked about the ocean, the familiar feeling of the Pacific, and how certain places stay with you no matter where life takes you.
It reminded me why Charlotte's Cove has never really been about jewelry.
It's always been about the feeling.
The feeling of salt in your hair.
Morning walks by the water.
The peace you find watching waves roll in.
The excitement of planning your next trip.
The memories tied to places you love.
If a necklace or bracelet can bring you back to one of those moments, even for a second; then it's doing exactly what I hoped it would.

But this weekend also reminded me of something else.
Resilience.

As I stood behind the table talking with all of you, I couldn't stop thinking about how much Charlotte's Cove has carried me through over the last four years.
I started this business just six months after having our fourth little boy. who is now almost five.
Looking back now, I laugh a little because I truly had no idea what I was getting myself into.
Everyone talks about how hard motherhood is.
Not many people talk about how hard it is to build something alongside motherhood.
To chase a dream while four little boys need snacks, homework help, bedtime stories, and so much more.
Without a nanny or daycare, completely dependant on me.
To answer emails during nap time.
To package orders after everyone has gone to sleep.
To squeeze creativity into the little moments between everything else.
Building Charlotte's Cove has been one of the hardest things I've ever done.
It's also been one of the most rewarding.
There have been seasons filled with excitement, seasons full of uncertainty, and plenty of moments where I wondered if I could really do both.
But somehow, year after year, we've kept growing.
Not because I've done everything perfectly.
But because you've continued showing up.
And because of that, I get to support my family while also showing my boys what it looks like to build something with heart.
One of my greatest hopes has always been to create a business that could grow alongside motherhood; not compete with it.
A business that allows me to be present for my family while building something meaningful for all of you.
Every year, that dream feels a little more real.
For those of you who may not know, the name Charlotte has always held a special place in my heart.
Charlotte was the name we had picked out if we were ever blessed with a little girl.
And while I absolutely adore being a boy mom and truly wouldn't change it for the world; after having four boys, I realized there was a part of myself I was quietly missing.
Not because I needed a daughter.
But because somewhere in the beautiful chaos of motherhood, I had lost touch with my own creativity.
Starting Charlotte's Cove six months postpartum became so much more than starting a business.

It became my way of finding myself again.
Designing jewelry gave me a creative outlet.
It gave me confidence.
It gave me purpose.
Most of all, it reminded me that I was still me.
People have often assumed that because I have four boys, I must have desperately wanted a daughter. Gender projection is wild.
I've heard comments like, "You must have really wanted a girl."
Or, "Wow...four boys! You have your hands full."
While those comments were usually well-intentioned, they never really reflected how I felt. I usually would just laugh and move on with my day.
Of course I once imagined having a daughter.
Not because I needed one to complete my family, but because I longed for the mother-daughter relationship I never had growing up.
Over time, though, I realized something incredibly freeing.
I didn't need a daughter to celebrate the feminine parts of who I am.
I could create that space for myself.
Long before Charlotte's Cove existed, my original business was called Cappa Creations.
My husband and I used to joke that it was "our daughter."
It was my little corner of the world where I would explore my creativity during naptime.
A place where I could dream, create, and express myself freely.
What started as making jewelry for myself slowly became making pieces for friends and family.
Then their friends.
Then women I had never met before.
Without realizing it, I had found exactly what my heart had been searching for all along.
Joy.
Connection.
Community.
When it came time to rebrand, I shared the story behind the name with my branding designer.
She immediately said, "That's it."
Charlotte's Cove.
Not because it represented something I had lost.
But because it honored a dream while celebrating everything I had found.
Standing inside LoveShackFancy this weekend, surrounded by the sweetest little frilly dresses and watching mothers smile as they shopped with their daughters, I felt an overwhelming gratitude.
Gratitude for my four incredible boys.
Gratitude for the family God gave me.
Gratitude that this business found me exactly when I needed it.
And gratitude that what started as healing for one woman somehow became a place where thousands of women can come together over a shared love of the ocean, travel, and meaningful memories.
This weekend reminded me that Charlotte's Cove has never been measured by sales.
It's measured by connection.
By hearing your favorite beach memories.
Helping someone build a bracelet stack that reminds them of Hawaii.
Meeting someone from the Bay Area who instantly made me feel closer to home.
Watching complete strangers connect because they share a love for the ocean.
Those are the moments I'll carry with me.
Those are the moments that have built Charlotte's Cove.
Jewelry simply became the thread that ties all of those stories together.
Charlotte's Cove is now in its fourth year.
Sometimes I still can't believe I get to say that.
This business has grown right alongside my family.
My boys have watched boxes pile up in our house.
They've helped unpack shipments, collection launches, photoshoots, celebrated milestones, and seen all the behind-the-scenes moments no one else gets to witness.

More than anything, they've watched their mom build something with intention.
I hope one day they remember that.
Not because I built a jewelry brand.
But because they saw what resilience looks like.
They saw that dreams can evolve.
That life doesn't always unfold exactly how we planned.
And that sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones we never saw coming.
I'm incredibly grateful to LoveShackFancy for inviting Charlotte's Cove to be part of such a beautiful event.
More importantly, I'm grateful for every single one of you who stopped by.
Whether you purchased something, shared a story, introduced yourself, or simply smiled as you walked past the table, thank you.
You reminded me why I started.
You reminded me why I keep going.
Some weekends leave you exhausted.
This one left me inspired.
I can't wait to see where the rest of this year takes us.
If this weekend taught me anything, it's that we're building something so much bigger than jewelry.
We're building a community. Our little Cove..
And to me, that's the most beautiful part of all.
With gratitude,
Ashley
